Christmas House 2009

I am really excited about the house that was chosen to be the Christmas House for Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles this year! Doesn't it remind you of Grey Gardens? I would love for the owners to be to hire Interior Views-- can't you just envision the interior all Colefax & Fowlered-up!

Katherine's Bedroom

Well I haven't posted anything in a while because unfortunately I have been very busy with work, taxes, errands, and other not so fun stuff that grown-up life charms us all with. And the only reason that I am writing now is because I'm sick and therefore actually able to sit with my computer longer than the 5 mins to check my email, and I have been wanting to give you all a little update on my jobs. This month has been exciting for me because I have gotten to see the fruition of my labor for the first time with both of my jobs. During the first week of March, Judy and I installed my first job that I did start to finish with her, and during the second week of March, Jessica and I installed my first job that I did start to finish with her! It was so fun getting to see the rooms completed, while at the same time nerve racking because if something went wrong, it would inevitably be my "fault." But praise the Lord, everything went smoothly and both rooms turned out wonderfully! Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the Den I did with Judy, but I do have some of the teenage girl's bedroom that I did with Jessica. I am particularly proud of the use of the fabrics because I picked those out :). I hope that you enjoy seeing them!

Direct flights from Atlanta to Heathrow!

Who's excited??? Just this week Delta announced that beginning in March, they will have direct flights from Atlanta Heartsfield-Jackson Airport to Heathrow Airport in London. No more $40 cab rides from Gatwick into London proper, so pack your bags!

Spencer is Two!

I can hardly believe that little Spencie Bear turned two years old on Sunday. Since he is in Boston, I wasn't able to be with him but he was really cut when I talked to him on the phone. This is pretty much how the conversation went down:
Me: "Hi Spencie Bear! Happy Birthday! I can't believe that you are two years old! I wish that I could be there with you!"
Spencer: "Hi"
Me: "Have you had a good birthday?"
No answer. (He is just 2.)
Me: "I miss you and love you so much, and I wish that I could be there with you! What did you get--"
Spencer: "Miss you! Bye!"

After all, he did have a new toy garage to play with, but he is much more patient on the phone than Henry was at 2. Maybe it has to do with being the younger brother and trying to keep up with the big boys . . . I don't know, but happy birthday Spencer!

A Busy New Year

Well gang, sorry that it has once again taken me a long time to publish a new post. I do not have a good excuse; things have just been busy. And honestly, at the end of a busy day, the last thing that I feel like doing is trying to be creative and come up with a post for my blog. I actually haven't felt like doing anything on the computer when I get home at night, not even check my email, which is strange I know. Having to do something on the computer just feels like another assignment lately. But I will honestly try to be more diligent in my posting.
I did have a wonderful Christmas with all of my family in town, and everything with work is off to a good start this year; it has just been very busy.

So the other day, I walked into work at Judy's and noticed that she had given her porcelain Chinese men festive attire for the holiday season, and I thought that it was really funny. In fact, I still laugh every time I pass them; yes, it's true: I am easily amused. Also I wonder how Buddhist monks feel about sporting red Christmas ribbons?

Ellie's Baptism

Well gang, sorry for the long wait in posting anything; an anonymous good Samaritan brought it to my attention that it's been a while, and I do apologise for that. The truth is that I have been so busy with work, and when I finally have time to sit down at the end of the day, I just want to relax and not have to think. But even though I have not been updating the blog, some exciting stuff has been happening this month: in particular, my niece, Ellie, was baptised on December 2, 2007. Isn't she adorable? Nothing else has been quite as eventful but has just been busy. I am looking forward to having some time off from work and getting to spend quality time with the fam over the holidays!

Is it Christmas break yet?

It has been a little difficult for me to get back into the swing of things a work this week after the long weekend of Thanksgiving, which was so refreshing. I have been feeling exhausted this week and slept through my alarm two days in a row for some reason, and now I find myself wondering how many days I get off at Christmas and how long will it be until that comes, which makes me wonder if I am really that tired or just lazy. Besides my tiredness though, my jobs have been very busy and moving along fine, and a house that Judy decorated is being featured in this month's Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine, which is exciting.

Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was wonderful! It only could have been better if Ben, Alston, and the boys could have been in town for Thanksgiving and for my 25th birthday. But as it was, Sally, Randy, & I went to John's parents' house; John's parents are incredible cooks, so the food was delicious, and I got to spend some quality time with Ellie, Emmy, and John.

I also had the pleasure of seeing John's sister, Dodie, her husband, Mike, and their little boy Thomas, who is exactly one month older than Spencer; they were all in town from Iowa, and we don't get to see them too often so that was a treat!

Another Job Update

Sorry that I have not posted in so long. Since I have been back from Boston, I have literally had no time to relax or write on my blog. The good news is that I am currently still working for Judy 3 days a week as her second assistant, and I am working 3 days with another interior designer as well, Jessica Keller. I am very fortunate to have both of these opportunites line up as they did, but nonetheless, working 6 days a week with church on the 7th day has proved to make me exhausted. So the pace at which I am living is challenging me right now but hopefully, I will get used to it soon. With all of that said, I am thrilled that it is once again that time of year when Starbucks serves their eggnog lattes-- they have been getting me through my busy days! Those of you who know me well know how much I love Starbucks and Christmastime, so put the 2 together, and I'm in heaven! Oh, and I did stay up late Sunday night to put up my Christmas tree in my room, and it makes me very happy :) .

Trick or Treat!

It has been so fun to be with the boys for Halloween; they were excited all day yesterday about wearing their costumes and getting candy. This Halloween Henry was Diego (from the tv show Go, Diego, Go!, and is Dora the Explorer's cousin for those of you who may not know), and Spencer was a lion.

This was the first Halloween that Spencer could actually walk up to the houses, and it was adorable to watch his amazement with the whole event of trick-or-treating: the concept of being given candy just for showing up at someone's door wearing a costume. Once he figured this out though, he was on a roll and didn't want to stop.
Being three, Henry was the wise and experienced elder this year, who showed his little brother the ropes.

We took the boys trick-or-treating with a group of other neighborhood kids. Henry got a little scared by some of the older kids scary costumes, but, all in all, everyone had a good time. In the end, the temptation of free and unlimited candy won out over fear.

Boston

I have the pleasure of being in Boston right now with Alston, Ben and the boys. Last night, Henry woke me up three times saying that his "paci" fell out of his mouth; then after we got up for good, we watched Go, Diego, Go!, ate breakfast, went to the park, stopped by Whole Foods, came back home, had lunch, took naps, went to the park again, came back to make dinner while watching Diego, had dinner, bathed the boys, read stories, and put them to bed. So it was a pretty full day and I am exhausted, yet I don't really feel like we did anything . . . Tomorrow, I get to meet Henry and Spencer's teachers this school year. Henry is being so cute about it; he asked me if I would like to come to his school tomorrow and that he had a lot of friends that I would like.

Queen Agnes

Since I will be in Cambridge on Halloween, Agnes had to put on her costume a few days early, and as she already believes herself to be royality, all she had to do was be herself in order to get into character. I think that she looks very regal, indeed!

This is the pose that is being used for her state portrait that will hang at Buckingham Palace.

Saturday at Ellie's

Saturday afternoon I went up to Athens for a playdate with Baby Ellie. It was a little bit of a sad day for her because Georgia didn't have a game (she loves to look at the TV screen-- I mean, watch the game) and Tennessee didn't play so hot (although you can see that Ellie remained a loyal fan still sporting her t-shirt), so I thought that she needed a little cheering up. We played with some of her toys that she will now hold on to if you hand them to her, and she is doing a great job at then putting her toy in her mouth once she grabs it.

Another week with Judy

Well I have finished another week working with interior designer Judy Bentley, and it continues to be a great experience. Unfortunately, as it is an internship while her assistant takes some time off to get married, the end to my job with Judy is nearing, and I am back to where I was 3 weeks ago. I am hoping to find a permanent position with a designer, but I don't know what the Lord has in store for me next, so we shall see . . .

Poor Little Agnes

Like her mother, Agnes doesn't like to get wet or go outside in the rain, so when I saw this little raincoat in her size, I thought that it might make her be willing to go to the bathroom in the rain. And let's be honest, I thought that it was cute and wanted to dress her up. Well, needless to say, Aggie was not amused and the little raincoat has since been returned.

The Bentley Estate

Last Friday evening after work, my new boss asked me and her full-time assistant (who is now off getting married) over for a glass of champagne and to show me her home. Her house is so beautiful! I can't do it justice by trying to explain what it looks like, so since a picture is worth a thousand words, I am posting a picture of Judy's living room. Her entire house was featured last December in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine-- she spent two years designing it before she and her husband moved in, so everything is perfect. And it looks even better in person than in the photo!

Interior Design Update

I wanted to let everyone know that last week and this week I have had the opportunity to intern with an amazing interior designer; her name is Judy Bentley, and she has the most exquisite taste. I am able to work with her because her regular assistant is taking some time off to get married. I am not sure how long I will be able to work for her (because she likes to ask me at the end of one day if I would like to work the next, which is kind of funny I think), but right now, I am just grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a wonderful designer. I will keep y'all posted on what happens next; who knows where this might lead . . .

Elizabeth Anne Larkin

I have done a poor job in updating my blog in the past, but now I am going to make a valiant effort to be good about it. Due to my previous neglect, I do not have a post documenting Ellie's birth, so better late than never, right? My beautiful, little niece, Ellie, was born to Emmy and John Larkin on July 31st. She is now two months old and as cute as ever! So here are two photos of us together: the first is on Ellie's second day in this world and the second is from last Saturday.

Job Updates

Many have asked for me to let them know when I get a job, so I thought that this would be an easier way to keep everyone updated because I have a feeling that I am going to have to have several jobs before I settle into one for the long-term. So, I am going to do my best to keep my blog updated with the latest on my job search, and that way I won't have to worry about leaving anyone out. It feels great to quit

Well gang, it's been a long time since I have posted anything and that has been because graduate school has consumed my life for the past 10 months. In light of this misery, I have decided to quit grad. and move on without looking back. I have been so much happier and at peace ever since I made the decision, so I figure that that is a good sign. I am now going to be looking for a job in interior design to hopefully begin working in August, as I already have a busy summer planned with lots of fun trips.

The 4th of July

The whole family got to be together for the 4th of July, and it was so much fun! Alston and the boys stopped through Atlanta on their way to Cambridge, and Emmy and John came up for the day. It is so fun to see how Henry and Spencer's personalities both develop more and more each day. Henry affinity for construction continues to grow, and Spencie Bear is making all of proud of how he is now finally sleeping through the night, which especially makes his mommy happy.

Ch-Ch-Changes . . .

Well, for all three of us Wolfe girls it is a summer for changes! Emmy & John just moved into their first house last weekend and are enjoying settling down in Athens. The Wises were given a lovely surprise when their apartment duplex caught on fire about a month ago; thus, they have had to move into temporary housing for one more month in Houston before they make the real move up to Cambridge in July. (Thank goodness no one was at home or got hurt from the fire.) And I, of course, will be moving to Athens myself at the beginning of August. I am very excited about my apartment and about living on my own-- we shall see how I like living in a small town, but it will be fun to live in the same city as Emmy & John again. It seems as if Henry & Spencer change everyday and are growing so quickly; they are obviously both adorable and have the whole family wrapped around their fingers.

Graduate School

Well, I have finally made a decision, and I will be going to Georgia in the fall! I am so excited about starting grad school; I think that it is going to be a lot of fun.
I have already found an apartment in Athens and will be moving in August!

beginning

With everyone's busy lives and so much going on, I decided to create a blog to easily let all of friends and family know what is going on in my life. I am still currently waiting to hear back from graduate schools, while being a TA at Oglethorpe and working part-time at Swoozie's. The most exciting recent event has of course been the birth of my second nephew Spencer Wise on January 27th.
